Cosmo's Cats

An issue was noticed with stray cats in the Wiri/Manurewa area about 8 years ago. These are not feral cats (you wouldn’t see feral cats in the city, they live in the wild), they are cats that have either been dumped/abandoned in the area or born to cats previously abandoned who have not been desexed. A concerned person who worked in the area began setting up feeding stations in the areas where there seemed to be a few cats congregating. Roll on 8 years and there are now approx. 50 cats at 12 different feeding stations in the Wiri/Manurewa area being looked after.

As I am sure you can imagine, feeding this many cats takes a lot of time & money! Cosmo’s has decided to assist in making life a little easier for these abandoned cats. Wherever possible the cats are trapped & desexed and usually returned to the area they came from. If suitable they are rehomed, but the sad reality is that there are just too many cats and not enough people willing to adopt.

Incidentally – we are also feeding a bit more of the wildlife aside from the community cats including hedgehogs, pukekos, ducks & other wild birds who all seem to have a taste for cat biscuits!

PLEASE GET YOUR CAT DESEXED! THERE ARE MANY VETS & ANIMAL CHARITIES THAT RUN FREE DESEXING PROGRAMMES.
